As our Communications Manager, you will:

• Report to and work with the Senior Director, Marketing & Communications to develop and execute strategies, plans and tactics to raise the profile of TLN Media Group and its related channels
• Alongside Sr. Director, work to execute key sponsorship, high profile events, partnership initiatives and community contributions
• Research and draft a variety of communications materials including but not limited to: press releases, media pitches, internal communications, talking points, presentations, TV listings, program descriptions, newsletters, social media posts
• Source and manage photography and imagery to support communication goals and campaigns
• Act as a media contact and oversee regular monitoring of media, key issues and relevant trends
• Develop relationships with key trade and consumer media and proactively pitch compelling stories to raise the profile of TLN Media Group
• Work closely with the Digital Content Coordinator to execute communications and publicity initiatives through social media platforms
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of messaging and communication content across different communication platforms, traditional and social
• Work with Programming, Sales, Web, Affiliate Relations and other teams to identify and execute communication opportunities that support business priorities
• Participate in event management and execution, as required
• Represent TLN Media Group at industry or company events and opportunities

What you need to succeed:

• A bachelor's degree or diploma with 5+ years’ experience working in communications, media relations, and/or publicity in the Canadian broadcasting and media industry
• Understanding of the Canadian broadcasting / media landscape, including regulatory, public policy and funding
• Outstanding English-language writing skills for multiple audiences and platforms (a writing test will be administered for all candidates chosen for interviews)
• Ability to translate complex, detailed information into concise, compelling communication
• Established relationships with Canadian media and demonstrated experience developing and presenting compelling stories and content to targeted media
• Strong interpersonal skills and superb oral communication; persuasive and engaging with all types of audiences
• Confidence to act as a spokesperson if required
• Strong understanding of digital and social media platforms for communication, influence and engagement
• Experience supervising or mentoring a marketing and or communications team
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities, manage last minute details, be versatile and flexible with competing demands and demonstrate grace under pressure
• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong initiative, proactive, and self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and on a team
• Basic desktop publishing skills are a definite asset
• Fluency in Spanish is a definite asset
