Ceesay has 13 goals in 32 caps for his nation and managed to find the back of the net 22 times in 35 appearances for FC Zurich last season.

“If I was not a striker that scores goals I would have not been here. So the expectation is always high and they’re expecting goals from me and me too…”

Fellow Gambians in Italy

The 28-year-old Gambian attacker joined Lecce in the Summer of 2022 on a free transfer following his contract expiry with Swiss side FC Zurich.

“They always tell me good things of Serie A, of course, they told me it is not an easy league, it’s a tough league but it is a good league that you can come and be a better player and improve yourself…”

Manager Marco Baroni

The 59-year-old Baroni was appointed by the Giallorossi on July 1, 2021, and has since secured a record of 22W-17D-10L during his 49 matches at the helm.

“You have to be very careful what the coach tells you to do and he’s doing all his best for everybody, not only me but the whole team to get better and try to help the team and try to work so hard…”
