TLN Media Group Launches Financial Elder Abuse Prevention Campaign

National Multilingual Awareness Initiative to run across the networks
TV channels and Digital Platforms

(Toronto, ON – May 28, 2019) TLN Media Group, Canada’s most influential multilingual media company today announced the second phase of its multilingual elder abuse public service announcement campaign across its family of TV channels.  The focus is on raising awareness and helping with the prevention of financial abuse of senior citizens.   In recognition of Seniors’ Month in Ontario, the national campaign will run from June 1st – 30th.

Financial abuse is the most common form of elder abuse in Canada. Millions of dollars and assets are stolen every day from unsuspecting older adults.  Abusers can be people close to their victims or they can be professional criminals who target the elderly via phone or internet.  Whether misusing or stealing a senior’s assets or forcing them to sign legal documents they do not understand, it is important to recognize that the abuse is not acceptable.

TLN Media Group has produced 30-second multilingual PSA messages in English, Spanish and Italian languages. The national campaign will be broadcast on TLN Television, Univision Canada and Mediaset Italia TV channels as well as the respective digital platforms.

“TLN Media Group is proud to launch the second annual senior abuse prevention PSA campaign across our family of channels”, said TLN Media Group President, Aldo Di Felice.  “Our goal is provide awareness of financial abuses targeting seniors in an effort to ward against fraud and financial exploitation and to ensure that we are taking care of some of the most vulnerable members of society. Seniors should be equipped with the information to protect themselves, to make informed decisions on whom to trust, and to be aware of available assistance programs.  As media leaders of our ethnic communities for 35 years, we understand it is especially important to reach out to Canadians with these important social messages in their non-official languages of comfort.”

Join TLN Media Group in helping to prevent financial abuse of seniors. If this is happening to you or someone you know, ask for help from your bank or a family member. Break the silence. Stop the Abuse.
