Match Insights

Spezia have lost their last two away games against Atalanta in the top-flight, including the reverse fixture, but they drew 0-0 in their only home match in Serie A against them.

Since February 2022, only Venezia have lost more games than the Ligurians in the top flight – eight in 12 matches (W2 D2), including three defeats in the last three matches.

Atalanta have picked up only 18 points in the second half of this season – they gained 38 points in the first half of the season. In addition, only Milan and Napoli have picked up more points than La Dea (36) in away matches in Serie A this season.

Players to Watch

Daniele Verde is Spezia’s top scorer (six) and top assister (five) in Serie A this season. The Italian attacker is also the Ligurian who has been involved in the most goals in the second half of this season (seven: three goals and four assists).

Mario Pasalic has scored two braces against the Spezia in the last two matches played in Serie A. The Croatian has also been involved in 18 goals in the current league season (12 goals, six assists); only one Croatian player has had a hand in more goals in a single Serie A campaign since the tournament returned to 20 teams in 2004/05 – Ivan Perisic (19 in 2016/17 and 20 in 2017/18).

Venezia vs Bologna (8:55 AM EST)

Venezia sit in 20th place in Serie A with 22 points (5W-7D-21L) and Bologna sit in 13th place in the top flight of Italian football with 43 points (11W-10D-14L).

Match Insights

Only once in their Serie A history have Venezia managed to win against Bologna twice in the same season in the top-flight (1942-43). In addition, the Arancioneroverdi have lost each of their last five home games against the Rossoblu in Serie A and have not found the back of the net in four of these matches.

Venezia have lost each of their last four league games at Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo and have never suffered more consecutive home defeats in a single season in their history in Serie A. They have picked up just three points in their last 12 home games (D3 L9).

Bologna are unbeaten in their last six league games (W2 D4); he last time they enjoyed a longer streak in Serie A was in May 2012. In addition, the last Rossoblu defeat in Serie A against an opponent that started the matchday bottom of the table was in April 2016 (0-1 defeat against Hellas Verona).

Players to Watch

Venezia striker David Okereke – who scored against Bologna in the reverse fixture earlier this season – has only scored one goal in Serie A since February (in 11 appearances, 0.09 on average per match), after scoring five goals from the end of August to January (18 appearances, 0.28 on average per match).

Marko Arnautovic has scored 14 goals this season for Bologna across all competitions (13 in Serie A, one in Coppa Italia): with one more goal he will set a new personal record for goals scored in a single season as a professional player.

Hellas Verona vs Milan (2:30 PM EST)

Hellas Verona sit in ninth place in Serie A with 52 points (14W-10D-11L) and Milan sit in first place in the top flight of Italian football with 77 points (23W-8D-4L).

Match Insights

In the three points for a win era, only in the 2001/02 campaign have Milan won both Serie A matches in a single season against Hellas Verona (both 2-1).

Milan have won their last two away games against Verona in Serie A and in their history have never achieved three wins in a row on the road against the Gialloblu in the top-flight.

Verona could win two Serie A games in a row for the first time since January; they have never repeated the same result twice in a row in their last 13 league games.

Players to Watch

Gianluca Caprari (seven assists) is close to the record for the most assists (9) set by a Hellas Verona player in a single Serie A season (which happened in 2004/05). Adding the 12 goals scored, he could become the second Italian in the last 17 years to be involved in at least 20 goals in a single Serie A campaign for the club; the other was Luca Toni.

Rafael Leão is the player with the fourth-most dribbles completed (93) in the top five European leagues this season, after Allan Saint-Maximin, Adama Traoré and Kylian Mbappé. However, his last goal in an away league match came in October 2021 against Bologna; the Portuguese player’s last last six goals have been netted in home games.

After only losing one of their first seven Serie A matches against Juventus (W1 D5), Venezia have suffered 15 defeats in their following 18 encounters (W1 D2); no other side has beaten the Lagunari more often in the competition (16, level with AC Milan).

Serie A Interview With Napoli Midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa

In this exclusive interview between Serie A and André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, the defensive midfielder speaks about his career and previews Empoli vs Napoli, taking place on 24/04/2022.

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa: Career & Statistics

26-year-old Anguissa currently plays for Serie A side Napoli on loan from Fulham. So far this season, the Cameroonian has made 25 appearances in all competitions (1921 minutes played) for the Partenopei.

While the midfielder has not scored or set up a goal, what he has done is make the team tick. In his first season in Italian football, the Yaoundé-born player has become Napoli’s beating heart without being a headline act; not only does he win back possession and break the opposition lines, he demonstrates powerful running and neat footwork on a regular basis. This is why he has become a member of Luciano Spalletti‘s preferred starting eleven.

Anguissa made his first professional appearance with Marseille in Ligue 1 during the 2016/17 campaign. After three seasons – where he tallied 106 appearances for the French side – he was signed by The Cottagers; since 2018, he has made 66 appearances for the English side.

Anguissa is also a Cameroon international, having secured 41 caps with the senior team since his debut on 24 March 2017.

Serie A Interview With Fiorentina Midfielder Sofyan Amrabat

In this exclusive interview between Serie A and Sofyan Amrabat, the central midfielder speaks about his career and previews Salernitana vs Fiorentina, taking place on 24/04/2022.

Sofyan Amrabat: Career & Statistics

25-year-old Amrabat currently plays for Serie A side Fiorentina. So far this season, the Moroccan has made 21 appearances in all competitions (691 minutes played) for the Violascoring one goal.

For Muslim players, the holy month of Ramadan – which started on 1 April 2022 and lasts until 1 May 2022 – comes at a difficult time as the campaign comes to a conclusion. Followers of Islam do not eat or drink from sunrise to sunset, and that could impact their game. However, Amrabat seems unaffected and is flourishing under Vincenzo Italiano during this period; the midfielder has been one of Fiorentina’s best performers as of late.

Growing up in the Netherlands, Amrabat played for FC Utrecht and Feyenoord before moving to Belgium to sign for Club Brugge. That then led to his transfer to Hellas Verona three seasons ago, and his performances attracted the interest of several clubs. However, in the end, it was the Viola that won the race for him.

Amrabat is also a Morocco international, having secured 34 caps with the senior team since his debut on 28 March 2017.

Alexander Blessin Previews Genoa vs Cagliari With Serie A

In this interview between Serie A and Alexander Blessin, the manager speaks about his career and previews Genoa vs Cagliari, taking place on 24/04/2022.

Alexander Blessin: Background

48-year-old Blessin is currently the manager of Serie A side Genoa. He was appointed in January 2022 after a 6-0 loss to Fiorentina and has since overseen 11 fixtures, securing 10 points (1W-7D-3L) for the Grifone.

Upon his arrival, the German took the club on an eight-game unbeaten run, winning the support of the fans. Unfortunately, following his great run, Genoa then lost to Hellas Verona away and at home to Lazio, when, for the first time under Blessin, they conceded more than a goal.

After last week’s 2-0 defeat away to Milan, the Grifone currently sit six points behind Cagliari, who are the club that are just above them in the standings and that they are battling with to secure salvation.

Prior to joining Genoa, Blessin was in charge of Belgian First Division A side KV Oostende. He ended his spell at the club with a record of 26W-11D-28L over 65 matches in all competitions.
